Last week, the European Data Protection Board adopted two major decisions:
1️⃣ to approve the new Europrivacy criteria to be used as a European Data Protection Seal outside of the EU/EEA
2️⃣ to recognize it as a mechanism for international data transfers under Art. 46 GDPR
It opens a new era for data protection in Europe and beyond by supporting compliance, enhancing trust, and reducing risks for all.

Europrivacy is an innovative methodology and certification scheme developed through European research programmes to simplify, enhance, and certify #compliance with #privacy and #data protection regulations. It covers obligations under the GDPR, but is also extendable to non-EU privacy laws.
This is an important step for #GDPR implementation, which makes over 70 references to certification, including for selecting data processors and cross-border data transfers. When delivered under Article 42 of the GDPR, #Europrivacy certificates will be recognised in all EU jurisdictions.
