In April, the European Data Protection Board (EDPB) adopted Opinion 15/2026, approving the first European Data Protection Seal to be used as a tool for transfers under Articles 42 and 46 GDPR.

Non-EEA processors, subprocessors, cloud providers and SaaS platforms can now certify the processing of personal data they receive from EEA clients.
Instead of relying only on Standard Contractual Clauses, eligible transfers can use certification under Article 46, accompanied by binding and enforceable commitments.
